House No. 96 is not where it’s supposed to be, even though its invisible counterpart, No. 32, is. In »Houses of Ravicka« by Renée Gladman, Jakobi, the Comptroller of the city-state of Ravicka, is on a (rather desperate) quest to find a missing house. Meanwhile, No. 32’s unnamed resident reflects on the »crisis« that has befallen the city and the »intraactions« of architecture, subjectivity, and language. In a world where buildings and identities are constantly on the move, contradictions, disorientations, and bewilderments have become an integral part of life. The episode features excerpts from readings by Gladman at BPC (15.01.2011) and Bard College (18.10.2018).
