Is it possible to inspire care for sex workers through an embodied experience? Striptopia — Maia's Master’s Thesis — reimagined the strip club as a space for care, knowledge transmission, and solidarity. The pop-up strip club served as a contact zone between sex workers and civilians. This contact zone is now re-inventing itself into a radio show, with familiar voices, tunes & stories from the club, guests, humor and a pinch of spice & acadedmia. Based on research and lived experience, the show seeks to challenge stigma and advocates for dignity, safety, humanity and a deeper understanding of sex work in a global net of inequality.
